Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
