The network's Premier New Show of 2025 Secures a Significant Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

During the fall season, Adult Swim debuted a new season of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, shortly thereafter, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, evoking a cartoon version of a serene talk show. At a time often characterized by cynicism, this show's sincerity struck a chord and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two additional seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa ample opportunity to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the fans of the show who welcomed the series and helped it grow," remarked Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for a little longer."

A President's Endorsement

Accompanying the news praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and championed its uniquely offbeat style.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about following this lovable family go about their everyday routines.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to help comedy break out of its prevailing sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we must laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well help usher in that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal guarantees audiences a little more time to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the endearing Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The entire series is available for streaming on HBO Max.
